Biographical Info Dwight T. Pitcaithley is College Professor of History at New Mexico State University. He retired in 2005 from the National Park Service as Chief Historian, a position he held from 1995 until 2005. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Organization of American Historians and the James Madison Prize from The Society for History in the Federal Government. He was selected as a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow for several years and appointed a Distinguished American Scholar by the Fulbright New Zealand Board of Directors in 2000.
