Reading and discussion programs can take place in a wide variety of settings, but successful host organizations share some capacities. Host organizations need space (or have access to) space that can comfortably seat a group of 10-15 adults in a circle. They need full-time staff or a very dedicated volunteer whose responsibilities will include implementation of the program for its duration.
The host organization must demonstrate the ability to gather and retain a group of veterans to participate in the program—usually this means they have a strong relationship with veterans in their area or they have connections to VSOs and can partner with them to offer the program. It’s not enough to want to host this kind of program; the organization must demonstrate why it will be successful in gathering this audience.
