K. Michelle Quisenberry, Deputy Director

K. Michelle Quisenberry began at the Council in 2004 managing the NMHC Grant program and overseeing other Council programs and initiatives. In 2004, and through 2012, she managed the Museum on Main Street program, bringing Smithsonian exhibitions to small museums across the state. In 2012, she managed the Chautauqua program for a brief period. She oversees the Grant Program and has been responsible for special initiatives such as the Talking Service Discussion program for veterans, the Centennial of Pulitzer Prizes, commemorating Pulitzer works of fiction with reading/discussion programs across the state, and the 2018 Journalism, Democracy and Informed Citizen initiative.  She served as interim director from January through August 2017.  

Michelle grew up in Las Cruces, NM and graduated in 2002 from the University of New Mexico with a double major degree in Spanish and Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis on literature and Southwest studies.
