Craig Newbill, Executive Director Craig is executive director of NMHC and can answer questions about overall NMHC direction, the NMHC board and how to nominate people to be on it, giving money or time to NMHC, and the six-state Colorado River oral history/radio research project.
Craig Newbill joined NMHC in 1992. He has a B.U.S. from the University of New Mexico, 1988; an M.A. (American Studies) from the University of New Mexico, 1989; and a Ph.D. (American Studies) from the University of New Mexico, 1993. His dissertation was entitled "Oral Histories Studies from Eastern New Mexico Homestead Areas: Life Along the Caprock and Llano Estacado from 1900-1941." He has taught the following American Studies courses: "20th Century Cowboys," "Cowboys in Literature and Popular Culture,""Mountain Men of the Rockies," and "Rural Life in Literature and Film." Prior positions include: Staff Assistant for Personnel, Zimmerman Library, University of New Mexico; Branch Assistant/Salesman, Westinghouse; Salesman, General Electric; and Engineering Technician/Land Surveyor, State of New Mexico.
