Macbeth

Macbeth is one of the Bard's most produced and most popular plays, with its witches, haunted forests and midnight descent into madness, and features one of literature's most famous power couples in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. It is a dark tale of blind ambition, overwhelming guilt, the lust for power, and the bloody toll that they take. Intrigue, corruption, and bloody murder—themes that both appall and captivate us in our news and entertainment—are at the heart of the action in the classic tragedy Macbeth, the third production in the Vortex Theatre’s WillPower 4 Shakespeare Festival. This is the first time the popular summer festival is presenting a show in full Elizabethan costume. Dates: September 20, 2013 - September 21, 2013 Time: Friday 10am & 7:30pm, Saturday 7:30pm Admission: $10 Where: KiMo Theatre For more information, please visit their website

An Ikebana Autumn

The art of Ikebana is over 500 years old and was very popular among Buddhist monks due to its fleeting beauty. It later became popular among the public and was used during holidays and ceremonies, as well as for decoration. Today, Ikebana is extremely popular around the world, with several schools, clubs and organizations establishing new chapters each year. Ikebana is said to reflect the personality of the artist and conveys the simple yet complex beauty of nature in one balanced frame. Come view local artists’ arrangements at the Botanic Garden and discover the subtle allure of Ikebana in person. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ikebana International Chapter #41. Dates: September 21, 2013 - September 22, 2013 Time: 9am-5pm Admission: adults - $12.50, children - $4, seniors - $5.50 Where: ABQ BioPark-Botanic Garden
